Academic Benchmarks provides K-12 education with access to up-to-date standards and easy-to-use tools to aid curriculum alignment, assessment, instruction, and reporting efforts.
Content Knowledge: A Compendium of Standards and Benchmarks for K-12 Education,
is online in full text at MCREL (Mid-Continent Regional Education Laboratory)

The Standards and Benchmarks databases can be browsed and searched. The standards
are connected to subject area internet resources. Also note the Standards
Products section, many of the publications listed are also available
online.
Developing
Educational Standards
An annotated list of Internet sites with K-12 educational standards and curriculum
frameworks documents. Developing Educational Standards has been on the Net
since
August 1995, first with the Putnam Valley School District and now the Wappingers
Central School District - both in upstate New York. Includes links to standards
sites by state or country, subject and sponsoring organization. Site indicates
last update in early 2007.
Education
World's list of National and State Standards
This is a very thorough listing of standards documents with access by subject
or locale.
NCATE
Standards The National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education
promotes standards for professional accreditation of schools, colleges and departments
of education.

The US Census Bureau has collected an inclusive list of links to Online standards
resources. Not updated since 2000.
Specific subject standards:
Arts: ArtsEdge
The National Standards for Arts Education outlines basic arts learning outcomes integral to the comprehensive K-12 education of every American student. A consortium of arts organizations published the standards in 1994 through a grant administered by MENC, the National Association for Music Education.
Civics: Center for Civic Eduation
The nonprofit Center provides the full-text of standards and resources to help implement them. Materials are aimed at international learners, not just U.S.
Foreign Languages: American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages.
The Council sells printed copies of the standards but does offer this 8 page summary of Standards for Foreign Language Learning.
Geography: National
Council for Geographic Education.
The publication detailing the standards is called Geography for Life: The National Geography Standards. It was published in 1994. The web site provides just a bare bones list of the standards.
History: National
Center for History in the Schools
The Center provides the full-text of standards for U.S. history, world history,
and K-4 history and lesson plans to help implement them.
Language Arts: National
Council of Teachers of English
Published jointly by NCTE and the International Reading Association (IRA), The Standards for the English Language Arts is designed to complement other national, state, and local standards.
Mathematics: NCTM
(National Council of Teachers of Mathematics) Principles and Standards for School
Mathematics
Full access comes only with membership, but there is some trial access available
to the full text of the NCTM guidelines.
Science: Project
2061 from American Association for the Advancement of Science. This
site offers Benchmarks for Science Literacy and the companion Science
for All Americans (SFAA). SFAA defines science literacy and lays
out principles for effective learning and teaching. Benchmarks specifies
how students should progress toward science literacy, recommending what they
should know and be able to do by the time they reach certain grade levels.
Science Teaching: National
Science Education Standards. The science teaching standards describe
what teachers of science at all grade levels should know and be able to do.
They are a product of a National Research Council funded project.

Social Studies: National
Council for the Social Studies
Provides access to the executive summary of NCSS's Expectations of Excellence:
Curriculum Standards for Social Studies as well as information about their
other standards and position statement documents.
Technology: National
Educational Technology Standards. The National Educational Technology
Standards (NETS) Project is an ongoing initiative of the International Society
for Technology in Education (ISTE). The primary goal of the ISTE NETS Project
is to enable stakeholders in PreK-12 education to develop national standards
for educational uses of technology that facilitate school improvement.
