Media
Annenberg Media (learner.org) promotes excellent teaching by freely distributing
educational video programs with coordinated Web and print materials for the
professional development of K-12 teachers. It is part of The Annenberg
Foundation and requires registration for first time user. Many programs
are also intended for students in the classroom and viewers at home. (Last

Digital Video Library
The Harvard-Smithsoian Center for Astrophysics sponsors this collection of video content for math and science educators. All content is indexed and can be searched on a variety of criteria. Much of this comes from the Annenberg/CPB Project and is exceptionally high quality. (Last checked: 7/27/09)

Educational Media Reviews Online (EMRO) is a database of video, DVD, audio CD
and CD-ROM reviews of materials from major educational and documentary distributors
and independent filmmakers. The reviews are written by librarians and teaching
faculty in institutions across the United States and Canada. The reviews are
given one of four ratings: Highly Recommended, Recommended, Recommended with

Founded in March 2007 by NBC Universal and News Corp, Hulu is an online video service that offers hit TV shows, movies and clips. It brings together a large selection of videos from more than 100 content providers and is free and legal using an advertising supported model (U.S. users only).

A British digital TV channel and website for everyone who works in schools. Now about three years old, it is "alone amongst UK broadcasters in having nearly all of its programmes available online."

Officially launched in March 2007 to provide an online community for sharing
instructional videos in an educationally focused, safe venue for teachers, schools,
and home learners. Videos are both aimed at professional development with teachers
teaching teachers and for students to view in order to learn a concept or skill.

Ideas Worth Spreading
TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design. This site makes the best talks
and performances from TED conferences available to the public, for free. Almost

UCTV
Launched by the University of California to provide the public with informational,
educational and enrichment programming, UCTV offers material aimed at an adult
higher education audience. The education section of the videos on demand area
features an address by Clark Kerr and a discussion of the SAT. The Teacher's

VideoJug
VideoJug is library of free factual video content. These are professionally-produced,
high definition videos covering many topic in a "how-to" or "ask
an expert" mode. The format delivers easy-to-follow, bite-size tutorials
on a wide range of topics from cleaning tips and sport, to relationship advice
