AUTHOR: Roberts, Harry V. editor TITLE: Academic Initiatives in Total Quality for Higher Education. DATE: 1995 EDITION: PAGES: 607 PRICE: $35.45 PUBLISHER AND ADDRESS: ASQC Quality Press 611 east Wisconsin Ave Milwaukee, WI 53202 ISBN: 0-87389-326-3 LC: 95-18839 OCLC: DESCRIPTION/EVALUATION: This book offers a series of vignettes on the application of specific Total Quality techniques to specific academic situations. It is a collection of what librarians call "how I done good" literature. The introduction is really a sales pitch for the TQM method and does little provide a framework for the papers which follow, indeed, most of the papers assume a familiarity with TQM and its techniques. The book would be useful for faculty and staff seeking "brainstorming" ideas for TQM implementation. SUBMITTED BY: Kate Corby, Michigan State University
