NONPROFIT ON-LINE RESOURCES

The information super-highway is a gold mine of
information for nonprofit organizations of all sizes and types.
Through newsgroups mailing lists and discussion groups available
on the Internet, you can access information on grants, loans,
government RFP's, foundations, and resources. You can post a
request seeking information and receive advice from nonprofits
across the country. Some of the best nonprofit resources on
the Internet are listed below:
Internet Prospector: Discussion group for
prospect researchers. Post to: listserv@uci.edu. On first line
type this command only: Subscribe prspct-L . To receive the monthly newsletter that lists the
best Internet prospecting tools, use gopher and go to:
gord.asdo.uwo.ca Select server, and then select Association of
Prospect Researchers-Eastern Canada. For more information send
email to: chlow@uci.edu.
USNonprofit-L: Nonprofit organizations and the
people they serve. This mailing list provides general
information for all nonprofits on fund raising, management,
grants, etc. The newsgroup is known as: soc.org.nonprofit. To
become a member of the group or be placed on the mailing list,
send email to: Majordomo@rain.org with the following command on
the first line: Subscribe usnonprofit-L "your name and
organization".
Chronicle of Philanthropy: Mailing list
providing regular summaries of information published in the
Chronicle. To subscribe to this list, send email to: chronicle-
request@nonprofit.com with the following command on the first
line: subscribe chronicle "your name and organization".
Guide to Internet Resources for Nonprofit Public
Service Organizations: A 70-page article with the most
commonly asked questions and answers by nonprofits on the
Internet. Go to Gopher or FTP select una.hh.lib.umich.edu,
select line items 11 or 12, inetdirs (Gopher) or inetdirstacks
(FTP).
