GREATER LANSING FOUNDATION:
Fact Sheet
January 1997

Note: This is a historical document and does not reflect the current status of the Greater Lansing Foundation. According to Steven Peters, "we no longer have any similar publication now that the community foundation is handling the grant process." For more current information, see the Greater Lansing Foundation profile provided by Steven Peters, June 7, 2001.

The Greater Lansing Foundation is a private foundation established in 1947 by the Board of Directors of Central Trust Company, Lansing, Michigan, to promote the well being of the inhabitants of Ingham, Clinton and Eaton Counties, through grants to local charitable, public or educational institutions. The Foundation does not fund individuals. The Foundation has grown as a result of numerous large, small and medium size gifts made by various donors from time to time. The funds have been placed in the custody of First of America Bank-Michigan, N.A. in Lansing, which is charged with the safeguarding and investing of all assets and making available these funds as appropriate for the purposes of the Foundation.

Any contributor may designate a charity of their choice and those wishes will be observed. Any undesignated income in the Foundation is disbursed by a Distribution Committee. The membership of this committee is comprised of individuals residing in the Greater Lansing area. The committee membership changes by terms of appointment and all members serve without compensation.
