DOCUMENTS LIBRARIANS (AND LIBRARIES) IN THE NEWS
Issue 98, JULY 2003

Judi Dow, a long-time member of Godort of Michigan, has retired as the librarian for the Agricultural Economics Reading Room at Michigan State University. In case you want to contact her, her e-mail address is judidow@aol.com.

Friends of Libraries U.S.A., in conjunction with the American Library Association, has given U.S. Rep. Pete Hoekstra its 2003 Public Service Award in recognition of his efforts as a national leader on behalf of our nation's libraries and in particular for his sponsorship of the Library Services and Technology Act. Paula Kaczmarek recently reported in GOVDOC-M on June 25, 2003: "And, for those who have not yet heard about it, we had a reassignment of work at the Detroit Public Library on June 16. I am now the Manager of a merged reference department and the position of Manager, Government Documents is vacant."

Shawn Nicholson, President of Godort of Michigan, has been appointed Head of the Government Documents Library at Michigan State. The Government Documents Library has also completed its move to the third floor, West Wing, of the Main Library building.

Michael Sampson, Wayne State University Arthur Neef Law Library, has revised his library Government Documents Web Page. Take a look at http://www.lib.wayne.edu/resources/govdocs/law/index.php.

In a budget saving move, the Michigan State University Libraries have adopted a new telephone system. As a result, all staff have received new telephone numbers. Jon Harrison, Red Tape Editor and Social Sciences Collections Coordinator, reports that his new telephone number is (517) 432-6123, ext. 123. Shawn Nicholson's new telephone number is (517) 432-6123, ext. 111. Any bets on how long it will take to correct the telephone numbers on all of their web pages?
