DOCUMENTS LIBRARIANS (AND LIBRARIES) IN THE NEWS
Issue 106, NOVEMBER 2004

Heidi Mercado has retired from the Eastern Michigan University Library. Julia Nims has assumed responsibility for providing specialized government information reference and instruction services. She will also maintain the government information web page.

Terri Miller is the new International Documents Librarian at the Michigan State University Libraries.

Jocelyn Shaw reports that Grand Valley State University and Hackley Public Library are finalizing a selective housing agreement which will result in many old volumes moving from HPL to GVSU. GVSU and HPL are in the same Congressional District, so the material will still be available within the original district. GVSU has much better facilities for preserving the materials, many of which date to the mid to late 1800s. The move will also free up much needed shelf space at HPL. Both libraries are very excited about the move. Among the items that will be moving are the Congressional Globe, American State Papers, Statutes at Large from vol 12 through 1999, and Congressional Debates.

Grace York reports that the University of Michign Documents Center has launched an experimental news feed in anticipation of Michael Samson's program on Dec. 10. The news feed includes additions to the Documents Center web site as well as answers to some of the frequently-asked reference questions we receive. Seasoned bloggers can sign up for it using: http://www.lib.umich.edu/govdocs/rss.xml.
