Inflation and consumer price indexes

• Consumer Price Indexes Home Page from the U. S. Bureau of Labor Statistics links to a variety of government web pages, including the latest news release from BLS.
• Consumer Price Indexes by Major Groups and Consumer Price Indexes for All urban consumers for Selected Items and Groups are tables from the Statistical Abstract of the United States (also available in paper behind the Desk at QR/SSHR at SuDocs call number C3.134).

• Yahoo has a searchable database of job listings.
• Webdog's Career Guides has links to sites with advice about seeking work, not job listings themselves.

Internships and summer jobs

• Peterson's Internships, shelved in IRC at call number HD4881.I5, is an annual listing.
• National Directory of Internships, shelved in IRC at call number HD5712.2 .N37, is another annual.
• For summer jobs, look at Peterson's Summer Jobs for Students (in IRC at call number HF5381.N277), Summer Jobs Britain (in IRC at call number HF5382.5 .G7S8), or Overseas Summer Jobs (in IRC at call number HF5382.D5).
• Career Planning and Placement at the University of Virginia offers web links to a variety of internship listings, including a search engine.
• The Career Services Office at Montana State University also has a web page that pulls together links to a variety of online resources about internships.

Stock prices

• Ticker Symbol Lookup provides daily updates on stock prices: this single site covers the NYSE, Amex, Nasdaq and other exchanges. You can search by ticker symbol or by company name.
• Security APL Quote Server also provides current prices, but you need to know the company symbol. You can find many symbols in the Wall Street Journal, or try the next site:
• Ticker Symbol Search helps you look up the symbol for a company: this is useful for many of the interactive Web sites.
• NYSENet is the official web page of the New York Stock Exchange.
• American Stock Exchange is the official Amex web site, with a variety of links to company information.
• Nasdaq is the official web site of the Nasdaq exchange.

Currency and exchange rates

• Foreign Exchange Rates is an interactive site to compare values for three dozen currencies (money), using daily Federal Reserve Bank of New York figures.
• The New York Times and the Wall Street Journal publish exchange rates for major currencies daily: both are available at PRR..
• Universal Currency Converter is another interactive site, set up on a slightly different model.
• UN Operational Rates of Exchange is a gopher-based table showing the value of some 200 currencies relative to the U. S. dollar. It isn't updated as often as the other tables, but covers far more countries.
• Currencies and Currency-Exchange from the Institut fuer Betriebswirtschaftliche Geldwirtschaft (Goettingen) offers links to several dozen other converter sites.
